Home » About Us
Ten years ago, Jeff Dunmall and Scott Howlett, co-founders of imason, had an idea to build a company that would be the best place to work. And a place where the team around them could do their best work. Jeff and Scott have always had a commitment to build and maintain technology consulting relationships with our customers, in a 'trusted advisor' role.
Today, imason is a collection of talented Developers, Architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and User Experience team members who are focused almost exclusively on using the Microsoft technology stack to build innovative and compelling applications for Canada's largest companies. We are proud of the work we have done and continue to do for our customers and we have many excellent examples of our work for both employee-facing knowledge management systems and large-scale consumer facing portals.
Jeff Dunmall Principal, Co-founder
Jeff Dunmall is the co-founder and co-CEO of imason Inc. Jeff specializes in delivering knowledge management solutions, working directly with companies in the financial services and telecommunications sector to better equip their employees to create, manage, and discover knowledge. From helping some of Canada's largest board of directors collaborate electronically to delivering specific how-to information to tens of thousands of employees daily, the solutions that Jeff helps envision deliver significant cost savings to our customers.
Jeff is actively developing new thought leadership for how companies can leverage information discovery technology to better connect employees to the information required to efficiently perform their jobs.
Jeff is a graduate of the Computer Engineering program at the University of Waterloo. He enjoys hanging out with his family, listening to music through his Sonos music distribution system, and when he finds a moment, you might find him streaking across the lake windsurfing.
Scott Howlett Principal, Co-founder
Scott has been helping businesses drive value from web-based technology solutions since the early days of the Internet. He brings the optimistic, yet practical, perspective to his customers that only comes from real world experience. Scott holds an engineering degree from the University of Waterloo. He is long-standing member of the Regional Director program, which is a small worldwide group of technology thought-leaders run by Microsoft. You can see what Scott's thinking about on his blog, and very random little snips on twitter.
When Scott isn't working, he enjoys time with his wife and 5 kids usually on the ski slopes in winter and the golf course in summer. Scott lives in Port Credit, a suburb of Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Kevin Clement Managing Director
Using his 10 years strategy consulting experience and exposure across various industries, Kevin provides a well-rounded perspective to clients as they embark on business initiatives supported by technology. His focus on line of business solutions is driven by a passion to find innovation sources in an organization and then harness the people power required to incubate growth.
Kevin holds a MBA and HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts from Huron College at the University of Western Ontario. Outside of work Kevin is an avid sportsman, who has found a balanced love for the serenity of golf and the intensity of kickboxing.
James Kennedy Managing Director, Finance & Operations
James is a Chartered Accountant and earned his designation with PricewaterhouseCoopers. After several years in the audit practice, James moved to PwC's Advisory Services with the Dispute, Analysis & Investigations group, where he dealt with a wide range of clients both in Canada and internationally.
Prior to obtaining his C.A. designation, James attended Wilfrid Laurier University where he completed his business administration degree.
When he's not working, James loves to spend time with his kids. He also enjoys playing soccer (though admittedly, not as well as he used to), hockey (let's just say he was a late starter) and golf (there is always hope!).
Alison Davies Director, Customer-facing Solutions
Alison is dedicated to the success of her clients. She has been a strategic lead, account manager and client advocate for interactive and technology projects since 2000. Alison credits her classic philosophy degree from Bishop's University for her love of debate and dedication to rigorous business ethics.
Outside the office, Alison is involved in all-things out doors. After running the Boston marathon, setting a 3:30 personal best in the Mississauga marathon and being the only member of her Oxfam Trail Walker Team to cross the 100 km finish line, Alison is training with her husband for their next endurance challenge: Ironman 2010.
Alexander Dowbor Director, Technology Consulting
Alex is the fearless leader of our consulting team. He has experience in all aspects of consulting from hands on development of large and complex solutions to design to architecture to Project Management for multi-year, complex engagements. He enjoys working on difficult challenges with our clients and our teams. His goal is to deliver the highest quality and excellent project results possible. You can often see Alex in front of a white board, marker in hand, with a group of team mates drawing a creative solution for our customers. Timelines, budgets, expectations, all can be met by using Alex’s magical spreadsheets.
When he isn’t working, this friendly, multi-lingual, South American enjoys a great “espresso”, talking to people (anyone really) about what they do, reading thought provoking books, playing foosball with his son and thinking about how to best present difficult information in a colourful Excel chart.
Vicki Thomson Director of Talent
Vicki is passionate about the success of the people around her. Her enthusiastic support for team members is evident every day and is often punctuated by laughter that resonates through our office. As Director of Talent, she recruits new talent, encourages us to talk to each other about our goals, and is responsible for making sure that we all have an excellent employee experience.
Vicki graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B.Math degree and has worked in a variety of roles in the Technology area including: application development, HR, marketing, recruiting, sales and training. She enjoys cooking, reading, drinking wine and sharing time with her many friends and family.
Stephen Kearns Principal Consultant
With over 10 years of experience consulting for various Fortune 500 companies across the US and Canada, Steve's focus has been in the planning, development and deployment of execution of enterprise web-based solutions and applications. His professional passion is envisioning and building solutions for clients to achieve tangible business value and goals.
Steve holds a computer engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and a PMP certification. Outside of work, he loves finding himself in the steep and deep snowboarding, spending time with his wee ones, or wining and dining with his wife at some new gourmet restaurant in far away locales.
